Ecological Impacts
The fish in the Nile relied on silt for food. The dam decreased the amount of silt in the river, which drastically reduced the amount of fish in the river.
Human Impact
The dam caused major flooding. This forced over 100,000 Egyptian people to relocate. This continued to cause issues for people further downstream, forcing over 50,000 Sudanese people to relocate. Egyptian farmers who relied on the silt had to use fertilizers to produce the same amount of crops as before.
